YallburruEmpowering Communities Since 2009
A Yugumbeh word bestowed by Uncle Graham Dillon (OAM) of the Koombumeri people, Yallburru represents our commitment to serving the Indigenous Diaspora of the Gold Coast and South East Queensland, providing culturally sensitive care and support services from our base in Gold Coast, Queensland.
Strength Through Connections
strengthening our community through culturally sensitive care and support services
Our Mission
To provide culturally sensitive care and support services that empower our community. We are committed to maintaining strong cultural connections while delivering professional, high-quality care that respects and honors our traditions.
Our Vision
To be a leading provider of culturally sensitive community services, where every individual is supported to thrive while maintaining strong connections to culture and community.
The Yallburru Story
Since 2009, Yallburru Community Services has grown from a vision of culturally sensitive care to become a leading provider of community services in the Gold Coast and surrounding regions.
Cultural Beginnings
Uncle Graham Dillon (OAM) of the Koombumeri people bestowed the name 'Yallburru' to our founding Aunties, granting cultural authority to form the organization.
Community Growth
Expanded our reach across South East Queensland, establishing connections in Logan, Brisbane, Redlands, Ipswich, and surrounding areas.
Service Evolution
Developed comprehensive programs focused on Indigenous Diaspora support, cultural preservation, and community engagement.
New Chapter
Established our new headquarters in Upper Coomera, strengthening our position as a voice for Indigenous Diaspora in South East Queensland.
Our Commitment to Community
Yallburru proudly identifies as serving and representing the First Nations Diaspora, with our foundations laid on the Gold Coast – the area of the wider Yugumbeh-Bundgelung encompassing the Koombumerri peoples. Our founding members have established strong working community connections within the wider South East Queensland region, including Logan, Brisbane, Redlands, Ipswich, Beaudesert, Tamborine, and Toowoomba.
We aim to increase self-determination and the capacity of Indigenous organisations and entities through a dual approach: improving access to culturally safe community services for our people, and offering 'our way' to mainstream Australia. This enhances outcomes for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities while increasing Indigenous self-determination.
Our vision extends to serving the needs of the Indigenous Diaspora throughout the Australian continent, recognizing both historical displacement through the stolen generations and contemporary urbanisation, while ensuring a means of belonging, connection, engagement, and voice for all our people.
